Repair Cafés in Aotearoa New Zealand have their own song now! On the occasion of International Repair Day 2022, it was launched, created by Baz Caitcheon of Bazzacam in collaboration with Repair Café Aotearoa New Zealand. Listen to this catchy song on YouTube and watch the volunteers of Levin Repair Café, Repair Café Nelson, Raumati South Repair Café, Ōtautahi Repair Revolution, Napier Repair Café and Blenheim Repair Café sing and dance:

Earlier Repair Café songs

In recent years, more singers and songwriters have been inspired by Repair Café. The Dutch comedian Maria Kraaijkamp, for instance, performed with ‘Hey oh, repareer je Senseo’ (‘Hey oh, repair your Senseo’) during an online event for Dutch Repair Café volunteers. The French music teacher Sophie Martin-Hautinguiraut composed a chanson to sing the praises of Repair Café. The Austrian rock group Söf has a song called ‘Der Tüftler vom Repair Café‘ (‘The Repair Café tinkerer’). Several Repair Cafés in Germany also recorded a song. ]]> Many Repair Cafés are still idle at the moment. Nevertheless, the concept continues to inspire people. To a song for example! Sophie Martin-Hautinguiraut composed a real chanson to sing the praises of the Repair Café. She was inspired by the repairmen in Oisans, the region in the southeast of France where she lives and works as a music teacher.

Sophie Martin-Hautinguiraut would like to share her song with the entire Repair Café movement, even if it’s still a rough version that, according to the artist, can be refined. She writes to Repair Café International: “These times can also give hope for change, for more humanity and solidarity. So let’s dream a little bit and keep courage to face the future.”

More Repair Café songs
Sophie Martin-Hautinguiraut is not the first to compose a Repair Café song. Repair Café Speyer already released a song in Germany in October 2019. Repair Café Koblenz even did that in 2014!

But the very first Repair Café song dates from 2012. Peter Galperin, a musician in New York, then offered Repair Café International his song “A disposable life” as a theme song for Repair Café. Listen to this song here:
